From BasketBall Reference

After a digression check out Big O who is the embodiment of triple doubles :

A Triple-Double is recorded when a player records 10 or more in three of the following categories: points, assists, rebounds, steals, and blocked shots. Prior to the 1973-74 season, the NBA did not record steals and blocked shots. Today numbers are very important in NBA to compare players and write good articles. Figures never lie !

An amazing stat involving NBA Triple Doubles is that in 1961-62, Oscar Robertson, while playing for the Cincinnati Royals averaged a triple-doubles over the entire season and he was a sophomore. He averaged 30.8 points, 12.5 rebounds, and 11.4 assists. Robertson is the only player to ever accomplish this. During that season, he also set the mark for most triple-doubles in one season with 41 (played in 79 games). Those are two records that will probably never be broken.

The ’62 season rolled around and the following things happened:

1. Wilt averaged 50 points. He finished with 4029 points.

2. Oscar averaged a triple double production over his sophomore season.

3. Walt Bellamy averaged a 32-19 in his rookie season with Chicago Packers

4. Russell averaged 23.6 boards and fell two behind Wilt for the rebound title

Wilt Chamberlain recorded the only NBA Double-Triple-Double; 22 points, 25 rebounds, and 21 assists. Also in 1968, Chamberlain had an impressive streak of nine consecutive games in which he recorded a triple-double. He was the best center and has such an impact in games.

The second longest streak is held by Oscar Robertson and Michael Jordan, both of whom recorded a triple-double in seven consecutive games. Robertson’s streak occurred in the 1961–62 season, while Jordan’s streak went from March 25 to April 6 of 1989.

Lebron James is rolling in deep with his shooting selection and he is producing  many versatile copies.

james

From basketball-reference.com.

Just look at James’s numbers please ! James has 21 double-doubles and 2 triple-doubles but  missed often that performance for only one assist.

Barrier breaker !

Lebron James is the first player in the league to drop at least 30 points and shoot at least 60 percent in six straight games.

I love watching LeBron James running the floor and go to the basket to throw down spectacular dunks.

This night, LeBron James dropped 30 points , 9 dimes and collected 6 boards vs Blazers. James is the top leader in versatile games. James holds an NBA high 16 games with 30 pts, 5 assists and 5 rebounds. Kevin Durant a warrior for MVP Title is second , 6 games behind with a double-digit production of 10.

Stronger than Jordan ? Oh, be patient, MJ who will turn on 50 years and has 6 NBA titles. LeBron James has only one ring.

james é

For this game against Portland Trail Blazers  a team highlighted by a surprising first year boy , called Damian Lillard.

Blazers have seen who is Lebron James. Damian Lillard was terrific with a game high of 33 units.  So far,It was the 25th time Lillard scored more than 20 points this season, adding to his rookie-of-the-year credentials. Sure Lillard is the top rookie.

Well, tremendous stats continue to pile up for LeBron James. And there seems to be no end . We are the witness of such an unique player !  James is rolling deep and Heat are furious.  It’s a 6th consecutive win for Floridian guys.

LeBron is finding his way in paint to increase his percentage.

James is phenomenal in shooting choice.

He has made 66 of his last past 92 shoots. Now he stands alone in an exercise who only Malone and Dantley succeeded to collect 5 consecutive game with 30 points or more while shooting 60% from the floor.

” That’s why  he is who he is ” said his coach Erik Spoelstra ” The best player in the game ”

Also to win this game, the trident Bosh , Wade, and … were pretty good and collected together an amazing total of 86 points, while shooting 32 for 49 from the field. In union we trust !

It was the 1000th regular season win in heat history after a total of 1969 games.  Now Miami is .058%.

Miami has been in the Nba since 1989 and was sometimes in trouble to win games. But now  , Bosh, Wade, James are making the history of South Beach ! But the story of the night is for sure, the new accomplishment made by LeBron James.

The Heat and Thunder meet for the second and final match-up this season. The HEAT won their previous match-up earlier this season on Christmas Day, 103-97, in Miami.

Is it the end of a great player ?

Jason Kidd has been silent for almost two seasons in triple doubles.

This season has seen 25 triple doubles posted by 18 different players and Jason Kidd is not on that list. Is Jason Kidd able to produce a triple double at almost 40 to  join  point guard Rajon Rondo, Jose Calderon, J.Holiday who dropped triple doubles this season.

The injured Rajon Rondo paces the league in triple double with 5. And Celtics are 23-5 when Rondo makes a triple doubles.

This season Rajon Rondo overtook KG’s 16th career regular season triple-doubles. He tied Bryant’s career triple doubles with 18.

Rajon Rondo will missed the entire season ! I hope to see him in post season but human body is not a toy.

Resting is necessary after a ACL injury.

To be healthy , Rondo will undergo surgery on his torn right ACL in the next 10-to-14 days, as the swelling in his knee will take some time to dwindle, Sports Illustrated reports.

Jason Kidd  rested during the Mavs’ regular-season finale, which means that he failed to record a triple-double in a season for the first time in his 18-year career.

Now in this 19-year career, he did not success to record a triple doubles with Big Apple. He will turn 40 years old on Mar 23, 1973.

However I hope to see Kidd complete another triple menace production for my pleasure.

I like to see this kind of performance in a basketball game to recognize  the best players able to push the ball, to find teammates for easy buckets, score baskets, and last but not least be able to protect the glass by pulling down safety inbound.

The main question of this paper is to see if Jason Kidd is able to produce this performance again for a last dance.

For me , if you consider figures, Kidd is 7,7 ppg, 3,7 apg 4,1 rpg, in 27.9 minutes per game !

It would be very complicate to make a double digits production in three categories during a game for the veteran player.

Kidd is not young, and energy would lack to complete this performance.

Kidd scored only three points Monday in 20 minutes, but at least his back injury doesn’t appear to be serious. He will continue to have limited fantasy value due to his limited playing time.

Saturday 1/26 in a loss vs Philadelphia It marked just the 3rd time in Jason Kidd’s career to have 0 points AND 0 assists in a game. He had also 0 points and 0 assists in the Knicks’ loss to the Bulls earlier this season on Fri 1/11.

Kidd has shown his constancy since he joined the NBA in 1994-1995 season  drafted at the 1st round, 2nd by DALLAS seeking for an elite point guard.

And they found it ! Kidd was a guy in which a team could rely on during almost 20 years.

Kidd played in 1356 contests and has 107 regular season triple doubles. Has has 11 post season triple doubles in 146 crucial games.

Kidd was in rolling since the start of his career,  as he began his rookie season by posting 4 triple doubles.

Look this table to see how prolific the San Francisco was during his successful career.

Kidd came within one point of a triple-double when he had 10 rebounds and 12 assists in a win over the Golden State Warriors with Dallas.

His 107 career triple-doubles rank behind only Oscar Robertson and Magic Johnson in NBA history and are more than the combined total of the next four active triple-double leaders (LeBron James, Grant Hill, Kobe Bryant, Rajon Rondo).

According to the Elias Sports Bureau, Kidd’s 17 consecutive seasons with a triple-double is by far the longest such streak in NBA history. Next on that list: Johnson (12), Robertson (11), Kareem Abdul-Jabbar (10) and Larry Bird (9).

Rajon Rondo is the best young player in this exercise

Memories of the last post season with big games of Rajon Rondo.

Rajon Rondo made plenty of history in the Boston Celtics’ 90-84 overtime win over the Atlanta Hawks.

Rondo became the first player in NBA history with at least 17 points, 14 rebounds, 12 assists and four steals in a playoff game, according to the Elias Sports Bureau.

Elias also tells us he’s the first player in NBA history to record a triple-double in a playoff game after missing his team’s previous game.

Rondo’s ten career playoff triple-doubles are the second best  LeBron James is third with 8 the among active players. both players Rondo and James  under 30 are trailing only veteran Jason Kidd’s 11.

Rondo really steps his game up in the playoffs. He notches triple-doubles more than three times as often in the playoffs as he does in the regular season.

He’s done so once every 26 games in the regular season, but once every 9 games in the playoffs.

Per Elias, Rondo’s seven triple-doubles in his first 75 playoff games is tied with Kidd for the fourth-most in NBA history.

Only Magic Johnson (18), Wilt Chamberlain (8) and Oscar Robertson (8) had more in their first 75 playoff games.

Only five players in NBA history have more than Rondo’s seven career playoff triple-doubles. Magic Johnson (30) is the all-time leader in that category.

Rondo has etched his name in playoff book by joining an elite list of NBA all-time greats.

From Elias: Rajon Rondo’s triple-double on Friday was his 3rd straight against the Hawks. Rondo is the first player to have a triple-double in 3 straight games vs one team since Jason Kidd did it against the Bobcats (1/4/08 to 2/8/08)
Rajon Rondo has 15 triple-doubles since start of last season (including playoffs). The next-most in NBA in that span is LeBron James with 3.

Are the Celtics actually better without Rajon Rondo ?

Yes, they’re much more cohesive on the floor

No, don’t be ridiculous — he is their best

Motion would be answered in a next paper.

The Harlem Globetrotters doubtlessly have brought to the basketball the spectacular and entertaining side. Real ambassadors of the basketball they toured all over the world. They amazed millions of fans worldwide. They are today the reference in the basketball creation .

More than a basketball team, they broke social and cultural barriers by bringing to thousands of spectators their first basketball experiences.

SOME HISTORY : BUT WHO REALLY ARE THE HARLEM GLOBETROTTERS?

To read more about this article it’s here…

It is a basketball team of the United States that perform during exhibition games by combining artistic and athletic performances.

The adventure begins in 1926 in Chicago when the team, exclusively consists of black players, rejected from the major leagues of the country.

They make their big debuts in the Negro American Legion League, a semi-professional minor league exclusively reserved for the Afro-American players, under the name of “Savoy Big Five”, in reference to Savoy Ballroom of Chicago. The same year, the promoter Abe Saperstein buys the club, he renamed it the Harlem Globetrotters.

Originally, the Globetrotters had a competitive level and play basketball seriously

In 1939, they offered to the public farcical jokes in parallel of the game. The public was under the charm and asked for more. As they were not affiliated to any recognized league, they had to attract the public and have to face the other teams.

It is in Savoy Ballroom that their legend began at the beginning of the 1920s.

THE MOVEMENT TAKES SHAPE

Wilt Chamberlain, only player to have registered 100 points in a single NBA game during the 1962 season was a member of the Harlem Globe Trotters from 1957 till 1959. He is the man of a lot a records in the NBA ! For example he’s the best rookie with a 58 point performance. And he scored  an impressive total of 4029 pts during a sole season. Wilt is 4th in the list of  all time point leaders with 31 419 units. Kobe Bryant  behind his 30 726 points, should outscore him in a few games.

The Harlem Globetrotters players are in great demand to make know the young NBA created in the 1950s, new league stemming from the gathering of the best get to join forces of that time.

Most agreed and choose to join the new league: the National Basketball Association. However, the Trotters are victims of hypermediatization which they conveyed up to there to the black players.

The team becomes less strong sportilvely because of the development of the NBA but stronger artistically. From then on they begin to perform beyond the American territories and conceived in 1951 the biggest world tour never realized for a basketball team with in 108 exhibition games. A record.

In 1958, the superstar Wilt Chamberlain was invited to a tour in the USSR with the Harlem Globetrotters just before joining the prestigious NBA. The media and the cinema seized the phenomenon.

Movies are also of the honor for the Globies.

In 1954, Sidney Poitier, first black actor to receive an Oscar in 1964, plays in Go, Man, Go, where he interpreted the role of a Globetrotter player .

Also first team to hire a woman in its roster, the Globetrotters broke little by little all the social and cultural codes of that time.

Since then, they appeared in episodes such as the Simpsons, Futurama.

” THE TROTTERS ARE STEEPED IN HISTORY FOR THE  BLACK AMERICAN PEOPLE”

Their world performances amaze the public, and their sports performances are incredible. They buckled the 1934 year with an extraordinary balance sheet of 152 victories for 2 defeats.

During the 1940s, the Globetrotters continues to excel in the game. They dominated and crushed all their opponents.

Their technical opportunities urged them to propose on the playground more and more gags in particular by Reece ” Goose ” Tatum, big comedian and virtuoso of the ball. Their fate is definitively going to fall over in 1948 and 1949, when they brought down twice the Lakers of Minneapolis of the big pivot George Mikan first star of the NBA, coached by the young coach John Kundla who led the Lakers to five titles in a row. The Lakers consisted in that time only of white players, as the majority of the teams of the league. The latter were the tops of the bill of the NBA.

2268887033_6e2ea56077

These remarkable successes established a big upheaval. It was an historic moment for the black American people. One year later, in 1950, the NBA opened its doors to the black players’ .Earl Lloyd became in particular the first afro – American player to join the League. Moreover Nathaniel Sweetwater Clifton player of the Globetrotters, became the first player Afro-American to sign a contract with the New York Knicks NBA team.

The Harlem Globbe Trotters changed the face of America’s basketball.

If the Harlem Globetrotters are ” a global brand ” today, their fate gets involved in  the United States and the Afro-American community a lot. The Harlem Globetrotters are the first team to cross the Atlantic Ocean in the 1950s.

SENSE OF ENTERTAINMENT

It is in the biggest arenas of the world that the Harlem Globe Trotters perform today. Their program is well grounded: thunderous dunks, gags like a troop of circus, interaction with the public, the referee and the opponents are also members of the show. The Harlem Globetrotters apply an explosive formula which makes their reputation for more than eighty years by mixing skillfully jokes and masterly athletic movements.

George Eddy, the voice of the basketball in France saw his first basketball match at 6 years old by looking an Harlem Globetrotters game in front of a black and white television. Their story continues to spell with the biggest personalities of the world. They exchanged some baskets in the White House with Barack Obama during the traditional ” Easter Egg Roll ” of the weekend of Easter. John-Paul II, Nelson Mandela, or Henry Kissinger have seen Globies’ tricks.

Since their creation in 1926, they performed in more than 20 000 games, played in 120 countries on 6 continents and in front of more than 130 million spectators.

West’ first triple double career powered  Pacers to a win 96-88 vs Bobcats

Playing without their best offensive player , Paul George , Indiana was looking for offensives answers.

Indeed, their low-scoring game 98 vs hopeless Charlotte Bobcats appeared surely while on the opening act Pacers were clumsy and missed their first ten shoots of the game.

After a slow first half, Indiana was better on the second half with 53 points while Charlotte scored only 43 points whom 20 in the third corner.

George Hill dropped 19 points , DJ Augustin added a season high 18 and Indiana topped the Bobcats for a fourth straight win.:

FACTOR PLAYER :

David West  a former all-star with a new balanced performance behind his first triple double in his career was pretty efficient. He tailed 14 points , 12 rebounds and handed out a career high 10 assists. He was everywhere on the court playing with a high basketball IQ.

He was the overwhelming player to stretch score and defense because he offered 26 points for his teammates because of West’s 10 assists, six came on 3-pointers who literally means 18 points in the bank if you pay attention a couple of second.

His only bad performance was prehaps his four turnovers but for the rest he was amazing. He finished with a ration of 2,5 assists per turnover an excellent ratio for a big man.

IS CHALOTTE LOOKING FOR A CONSTANT LEADER IN THE LOCKER ROOM ?

Ben Gordon scored 21 off the bench to lead Charlotte (9-27), which lost for the 22nd time in 24 games, while Kemba Walker contributed for 16.

TURNING POINT: Charlotte led 10-1 in the first period but after Pacers found way in defense and cleaned the glass with  17 offensives rebounds. Roy Hibbert with 8 offensives rebounds collected almost  the total of Charlotte who finished with 9

Pacers outrebounded Charlotte 48-38.

Pacers have won eight of their last 10 games and are 21-14 now.At the final they were under 100 points for the seven time in seven contest but win is more important than points.

According to a survey made by nba.com Pacers are a serious team in post season ! Look the votes now !

Once healthy, how far can the Pacers go this season?

  • First-round playoff exit 35k
  • East semifinals 71k
  • East finals 24k
  • NBA Finals 5k
  • NBA champions 9 K

THEY SAID:

“They were doubling David just about every time he touched the ball and we knew that would open up some things for our 3-point shooters.”
— Indiana coach Frank Vogel.

“I’ve been close to a triple-double a bunch of times and finally pushed it through tonight.”
— West.

THE STAT WAS FOR WEST : Of West’s 10 assists, six came on 3-pointers.

greg_monroe

On November 7th 2012 , the Pistons frontcourt player G.Monroe scored 21 points on 8-15 shooting, grabbed 12 rebounds, and handed out a career-high 11 assists.

He posted the first triple double in the 2012-2013 season.

Monroe was also 5-7 from the free throw line and even added a steal to the stat sheet. In terms of fantasy basketball, Monroe is proving to be the lone star on a lousy Pistons team and owners are benefiting greatly from it.

Greg Monroe became the first player on the Pistons to record a triple-double since Chauncey Billups accomplished the feat way back in 2004.

Picture from Gary A. Vasquez-US PRESSWIRE

This was the first triple-double by a Pistons center since Ben Wallace recorded one back in 2002 against the Miami Heat with 12 points, 19 rebounds, and 10 blocks.

16 triples doubles are in the books now for lovers of fantasy basketball

R. Rondo and Spanish  point guard Calderon pace the league with two

6 triple doubles were dropped by point guard , the best position in my eyes to have double digits in basketball , because you can share the ball , but you have to be healthy and clever to take advantage of the glass when big guys are roaring.

Since 1999-2000, the NBA has seen 34,5 triple-doubles by season , or 1 every 36 games !

The 11-12 season does not count because of the cut of the calendar because of the strike.

Jason Kidd stays today the best in this art with 107 triples double collected in regular games.

Oscar Robertson is the first with 181, Magic Johnson owned 138.

Jason Kidd

Jason Kidd can at ease share the ball, score and collect rebounds to reach double digit in these three main fields to help the team to win a game.

A triple-double is  a tough indication of an excellent all-around individual performance during a game.

To make a jump trough the long story of the NBA, Dolph Schayes might have registered the first triple double in 1951 on February 8 behind 18 points22 rebounds and 13 assists according to the Harvey J. Pollack NBA Statistical Yearbook.

history

Pistol Pete Maravich is more than a  basketball virtuoso !

The former best basketball player died on January 5, 1988 at the age of 40 years old, while he was playing a quiet recreational basketball game with Dr. James Dobson and other friends in Pasadena in California.

Later, an autopsy unveiled that Pete was victim of a rare congenital heart failure. What a sad lost for his family and his friends.  All of the lovers of the man and his basketball gifts were inconsolable !

And my first meeting with Pistol was… !

Unfortunately I saw the light  in 1990 , and I have never had the chance to see Pistol Pete playing basketball in live. When I saw  Pistol Pete Maravich on NBA TV during a vintage report I discovered  this amazing boy for the first time , dropping shoot after shoot  without feeling the fear of the game like nobody before.

I was a ten-year old little boy looking for a historical player while I was amazed by pugilisms of  Jordan, Miller, Pippen, Payton and other greatest.  I was playing basketball and I developed a great love for long shoot exercises to kill basketball players and struggle against myself.

Are you a baller ?

And since this day, I have been looking for a faith and i finally find it in sport and more precisely in basketball throughout the NBA history  directed by the most popular  broadcasters.  Rome was not built-in one day. Traditions and Good manners continue to stand today. I would like to thank you every contributors who are  trying to push the limits of the human spirit.

A steep in history to understand what today represents

I know that I’m making a  large digression but I sharply think that NBA is not what you only watch daily on TV or on You Tube, it’s more than just basketball ! Because the former players are still at large broadcasting games or analyzing it and are applaused by spectators  . Indeed They pass the ball to give to the community. Sharing the ball is the key and I love it !

They are not on the court but next generations need to honor them, because they gave you emotions and trounce your heart during their best fights. Sport is  the vector of universal union !

Two books to reinforce my  idea to be a truly baller according to my goals

Recently I read two  magnificent books , on the one hand ” They Cleared the Lane” written by Ron Thomas dealing with the first NBA’s Black Pioneers who managed courageously to admit black players in NBA to write one of the best book of the history of the NBA.   And on the other hand, the second book , the “own autobiography  of Mike James”.  If you think that the key is to fight for your dreams like Mike James wrote on his autobiography. Don’t give up !

Mike details sharply the hard work , determination and constant struggle to make it in a business that many desire but only few succeed. Is it the American dream ?

I reply not, it’s your personal dream. Writing and working for this article I try to make my passion and my dedication sweat to attack you in my world. Basketball is what I fancy, but I love the backstage and I want to be an encyclopedia of basketball to reach my goals !

After playing a  large digression let’s return to the real game with Pistol

Pete was victim of his passion for the game. ” I feel really great ” he said. Seconds later, he collapsed on the floor while breathing for the last time.

The legend of Pistol Pete began with remarkable stories of a dude who was  in love with basketball. He was totally obsessed with the game. Crazy of basketball , he practised again and again to perfectly handle the ball !

” I was so dedicated to perfecting my skills that when Mom came in to wish me good night , I was shooting the ball to the ceiling and catching it ” Pistol stated.

He developed his  outstanding capacities by drilling the ball on his two-mile walks to town, alternating hands to become equally adept with both. Hardworking and work ethic and pugnacity are for me the best qualities of Pistol Pete Maravich. Press Maravich, who saw the origins of the professional basketball , his father ,was a overwhelming factor to offer a good science of the game to his son Pistol.

He was known to routinely dribble the ball while riding  a cycle. As his father drive the family car, at varying speeds , Pete would certainly  hang out the window and dribble to practise in every situation. What a risk to try that fantasy tricks ! In his many videos, he advises to try everything to be able to handle the body in every game situation to be clutch. Pistol Pete is definitely a game changer !

3667 points in college for LSU

As a student at Louisiana State University, Pistol established scoring records that still stand today and would probably never be broken  because of the evolution of the game. In Maravich’s senior year, he averaged an impressive 44,5 points per contest , and also set the all-time NCAA career scoring record with 3,667 points before the introduction of the 3 point shot ! I let you imagine how many points he would score with the 3 point contribution.

For me , Pistole Pete stays and would stay the best college  player off all-time as he easily dropped fancy shoots and run the court like nobody in this period. For his prolific career he received  the Naismith Award (male)  in 1970.

Among the greatest scorer in the NBA

After a prolific successful college career he was drafted by Atlanta Hawks in 1970 ! He was resented by other rookies players because he was the first rookie in the NBA to get a 1 million contract to play professional basketball !

In the best league the National Basketball League created in 1949 , Maravich continued to display his wonderful play. He was chosen twice during his 10-year professional career to the All-Star team. Last but not least,  he was the youngest player ever elected to the Hall of Fame in 1987 , one year before he died ,while playing in a pickup three-on-three game in a California gym.

In 1976-1977 season  Maravich produced his best basketball as a professional. He played in 73 regular seasons games and led the NBA in scoring with a career-best 31.1 ppg. He dropped 40 or more points 13 times, and he paced the league in total points (2,273).

Maravich with his 68 points established the best scoring mark for a guard.

On Feb. 25, 1977, he pitched in 68 points in a game against the New York Knicks Five All Stars despite the efforts of defensive warrior Walt Frazier to bottle him up. Maravich’s show ranks as the 11th-best single-game total in NBA history.

The 1976-1977 season was a great season and opened the road to new teams

To be complete with the history , the 1976-1977 season saw a lot of new facts. The NBA’s main rival league, the American Basketball Association, joined with the NBA in the ABA–NBA merger.

Four ABA franchises completed the NBA: the New York Nets, the Indiana Pacers, the San Antonio Spurs one of the best constant  team in post season .They have made the playoffs in 21 of the last 22 seasons, and have not missed the playoffs in the 15 seasons since Tim Duncan was drafted by the Spurs in 1997 , and the Denver Nuggets.

And The Portland Trail Blazers won the championship in the first year that they appeared in the postseason . They also become the second team in history (after the 1969 Celtics) to win the NBA Finals after dropping the first two games.  They topped the Philadelphia 76ers 4 games to 2 in the NBA Finals and Bill Walton was elected the MVP Finals.

Oregon is in love with his basketball team.

This year showed how popular was the Oregon Team. Starting on April 5 of that year, the team began an impressive sellout streak of 814 straight games—the longest in sports history—which did not end until 1995, after the team moved into a larger facility the Rose Garden.

The Memorial Coliseum was the former team’s home court, capable of seating nearly 13,000 when organized for basketball.

The Rose Garden opened on October 12, 1995 and has a capacity of 19,980 spectators when configured for basketball and averaged and attendance of 19,773 spectators in this season  (2012-2013) in 15 regular season games.

Boston Celtics was his last basketball theater

In his last campaign 1979-1980 with his many rusty skills , his old knees , and his minutes limited-Pistol Pete Maravich finally got a chance to fire three-pointers. He successfully  bombed 10-for-15 to finish with the uniform of the prestigious Boston Celtics.

Maravich among the best players.

Maravich was a  constant deadly accurate long-range shooter during his career, but  he had never played in a league, college or pro, with the benefit of the three-point shot. All of his many points had come on two-pointers, even when launched from a long distance. In 1979-80, the NBA finally admitted the three-point line.

He finally exploded with 15.948 points in 658 games and dished out a total of 3563 assists.

He converted 6187 field goals for a total of 14025 attempts which mean a beautiful .441 %. He was never below the .40 % in his career. This stat shows all the confidence  he has in his dangerous game .In 37 minutes per game, he averaged 9.4 field goals converted from 21.3 tried and produced a prolific average of 24.2 points per game.

The fancy shoot was his trademark

He was .441 at the shoot, 66.7 behind he arc , and 82.0 with the free throw.

But he only played in 26 playoff games and scored only 487 points in crucial seasons.

Maravich was cited by the Hall as “certainly the greatest creative offensive weapon in history In an April 2010 interview, Hall of Fame player John Havlicek legend of Boston Celtics announced “the best ball-handler of all time was (Pete) Maravich.”

A new life after basketball

When he retired from professional basketball in 1980 because of injuries , Pete intense training program and pursuit of win was over !  But, he needed some other reason to exist.

He found his way in religion after many experiences in astrology, astronomy, mysticism, nutrition and UFO’s.

What a strange decision  to choose that kind of thinks totally different to sport ! He decided to do it at 100% !

His relationship with Jesus Christ

He finally seen Jesus Christ on his road to stay in live and continue to believe in something.  That complex connexion created of new life for him and gave him a new purpose that even game never provided.

In his last years , he devoted his time to helping and advising young people through summer camps and instructional videos that you can find nowadays thanks to YouTube and the World Wide Web. He was sharing his testimony while teaching them about the science of basketball.

His best testimony is his autobiography , Heir To Dream , which chronicles evoke his amazing life and his belief in Christ.

Nowadays, He is loved as a sports legend to millions of fans around the world. And furthermore he was remembered as an endless source of encouragement and wise advice to friends and young  people. Hardworking and patience are the keys to be the master in a field.

Last words to close the  Pistol’s chapter which is still alive

In my eyes, he represented the embodiment of deep-rooted vintage basketball and he ‘s more a guard than a point guard the position whom he played during his career for me.
